About the role
- Data Infrastructure Engineer managing PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, and ElastiCache at Ratepay. Ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance of data infrastructure for digital payments.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and enhance PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, and ElastiCache in AWS.
- Support automation of database provisioning and configuration using Terraform and Python.
- Create, manage and maintain the terraform modules for data infrastructure related component.
- Manage and maintain Apache Airflow.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve database performance.
- Own backup and recovery strategies and manage production upgrades.
- Collaborate with product teams on schema design, queries, and data migrations.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
- Document operational procedures and train internal stakeholders.
- Learn and support Microsoft SQL Server to widen internal capability.
Requirements
- PostgreSQL (Deep technical ownership and performance tuning of critical database workloads).
- AWS (Operate cloud-native databases with security, HA, and observability).
- Terraform (Automate infrastructure deployment and ensure reproducibility).
- Experience working with Apache Airflow.
- DocumentDB, ElastiCache (Operate, maintain, and enhance in AWS).
- Python (Scripting for automation, monitoring, and dev tooling).
- Microsoft SQL Server (Grow support capabilities for Windows-based workloads).
- CI/CD for DB changes (Improve deployment velocity and safety).
- Snowflake experience.
- Monitoring (e.g. CloudWatch, Datadog for proactive performance tuning and incident alerting).
- On-call experience (Operate in a 24/7 support model with reliability focus).
