About the role
- Senior System Administrator & Infrastructure Engineer managing reliable infrastructure and driving DevOps practices at IMAGO. Collaborating with development teams and providing technical guidance to ensure best practices.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain reliable infrastructure across Hetzner bare-metal and cloud environments.
- Champion modern DevOps practices, including automation, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, and observability.
- Support and administer both Windows and Linux environments, and help drive the transition toward a Linux-centric infrastructure.
- Lead the evolution and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and automated software delivery.
- Extend and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting (e.g., Zabbix, Sentry, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar) to provide visibility and reliability for critical services.
- Collaborate with development teams to enable seamless, automated deployments and efficient incident response.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship on DevOps tools and practices across teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience maintaining production-critical infrastructure
- Experience administering Windows and Linux servers, with a strong understanding of networking and security best practices
- Practical experience operating hypervisors (Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.)
- Strong focus on automation and Infrastructure as Code
- Proven experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar) and modern software delivery automation
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging stacks (Zabbix, Sentry, Prometheus/Grafana, or similar)
- Experience with message queueing and streaming systems (e.g., Apache Kafka) in production environments
- Ability to automate tasks using Bash/Python and Ansible
- Solid understanding of security best practices across networking, systems, and cloud environments
- Fluent written and spoken English is required
- Nice to have: Familiarity with pfSense firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs
- Experience with database administration (SQL Server, Redis, Elasticsearch, or similar)
- Knowledge of GitOps, service mesh, or advanced container orchestration concepts
- German language skills are a plus but not required
