About the role
- Senior Data Engineer developing scalable systems for data initiatives at Orfium. Engaging in architecture and leadership within an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the (re)design, (re)architecture, and deployment of critical, highly-scalable data systems.
- Act as a technical leader in cross-functional projects, proactively shaping requirements and influencing product/engineering roadmaps to ensure data feasibility and scalability.
- Design and implement solutions for data observability, monitoring usage dashboards/metrics, and defining quality standards to ensure trust and reliability across the entire data mesh.
- Coach and mentor other engineers and analysts in data engineering best practices, driving the adoption of self-service tools and technical standards across domain teams.
- Actively contribute to major architectural improvements and research/propose new technologies to shape the strategic direction of Orfium's data platform and data products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a relevant technology field.
- At least 4 years of professional experience in Data Engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL and strong skills in Python for data manipulation and pipeline development.
- Expertise in Snowflake or similar modern data warehouses (Databricks, BigQuery), including performance tuning, cost optimization, and governance.
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider, specifically in utilizing services for data infrastructure.
- Proven ability to establish and enforce best practices for data engineering CI/CD workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to drive architectural decisions of complex data initiatives.
