About the role

  • Identify property tax savings opportunities for clients and apply intermediate valuation techniques
  • Conduct research, analyze and interpret comparable assessment data, market data and sales transactions
  • Assist with assessment review and monitor the appeal process for client portfolios
  • Inspect properties and prepare reports as necessary
  • Analyze assessment notices and determine potential assessment reductions
  • Apply software knowledge to work efficiently with client data
  • Handle appeals and monitor appeals process; attend appeal hearings
  • Demonstrate knowledge of assessment review, appeal determination, tax bill administration and three valuation approaches (cost, sales comparison, income)
  • Build awareness of jurisdictional rules and filing requirements and understand assessment equalization methodology when applicable
  • Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities and attend client status calls and meetings
  • Participate in recruiting efforts and create a positive team member experience
  • Reconcile databases and complete detailed calculations as part of analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Real Estate, Business Management, Public Administration, MIS/Entrepreneurship, International Business or other degree with MBA, MST or JD
  • Candidates with appropriate valuation designations preferred
  • One to three years audit or tax related experience
  • Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Applicants must have US work authorization that does not require sponsorship (no H1-B, F-1 OPT, TN or other non-immigrant visa)
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% to client site visits and appeal hearings
