About the role
- Quality Engineer managing assurance and improvement projects for external coating partners, requiring travel to supplier locations and collaboration across multiple sites.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives for external coating partners
- Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring
- Assist key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence
- Indirectly lead functional teams to complete projects
- Communicate difficult concepts to organizational, technical, and supplier leadership
- Advise management in coating quality and supplier readiness
- Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks
Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of experience in Turbine Airfoils)
- At least 5 years of experience in Quality, Design, or Manufacturing role associated with Plating, Vapor Aluminide, and non-organic Physical Vapor Deposition coatings
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings
- Understanding of material specifications (AMS standards)
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems with appropriate rigor and responsiveness
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Six-Sigma Black Belt Certified
