About the role
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activity for Raw Materials, including tendering, negotiation and contract implementation
- Develop and execute category strategies based on spend analysis, market trends and supplier capability
- Identify and deliver strategic cost savings and explore alternative sourcing opportunities
- Manage supplier performance and relationships, ensuring KPIs and contractual obligations are met
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align procurement activity with operational requirements and long-term business goals
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide category expertise to support budgeting, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate procurement records and drive compliance with procurement processes and policies
- Full accountability for an annual spend in excess of £250m; work closely with senior stakeholders in a hands-on and highly visible role
Requirements
- Hands-on, commercially minded procurement professional
- Proven experience in category management within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Knowledge of raw materials, bitumen, fuels or similar commodities
- Strong strategic thinking and cost-saving mindset
- Experience driving alternative sourcing options
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including at senior level
- Confident negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance
- Comfortable working across multiple priorities and projects with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
