Responsible for producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products for bridge rehabilitation and new design projects.
Ensure that all work meets and exceeds customer quality requirements, guiding projects from concept through construction.
Leading a team to define project problems, establish work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight throughout each phase.
Perform complex technical engineering tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all deliverables.
Prepare and check detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and technical reports.
Offer technical engineering services during construction by reviewing contractor submissions and coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
Perform inspections of existing complex bridges and other structures, coordinate and lead inspection teams, and provide recommendations for renewal and repairs.
Perform Project Management duties, such as assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, and ensuring the quality of all deliverables.
Requirements
4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
15 years or more of recent progressive related bridge engineering design experience, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction experience.
Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta or BC.
Proficiency with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6). Working knowledge of any of AT Standards, ON MOT standards and BC MOTI standards is a must.
Technical knowledge of bridge engineering design and analysis principles.
Excellent technical report writing experience and skills.
Proficiency in 3D modelling analysis software (CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil) is a must.
