liaise directly with clients, investors, auditors and external parties regarding tax related questions/concerns and also be required to perform legislative tax research as required.
work on additional projects such as HST/GST filings, and assist in advising clients on a variety of tax related matters.
Prepare tax provisions and income allocations for investment funds including trusts and limited partnerships
Review and prepare trust income tax returns and partnership income returns using tax software
Liaise with investment fund managers and audit firms during the audit and review process
Communicate with clients and internal parties on all tax related matters
Assist and participate in special projects and other duties as necessary
Stay current on changes to tax legislation and other tax compliance requirements for investment funds
Requirements
Undergraduate accounting, finance or equivalent degree
Possess or working towards a CPA designation
A minimum of 2 years of Canadian tax experience
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with tax software
Strong analytical skills with ability to work independently, under pressure, and with attention to detail to meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Tax and accounting experience in the financial services sector, specifically in the private equity and or real estate industry an asset.
