About the role

  • Manage all aspects of CMC dredging projects from preconstruction through final approval
  • Provide technical and operational expertise to estimating and proposal preparation
  • Labor and resource planning, project scheduling using Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Coordinate and delegate with Curtin staff (Superintendents, Port Captains, Port Engineers, Crewing, Project/Field Engineers, HSSE, Dredge Crew, Yard Support, Boat Captains)
  • Forecast budgets, track expenditures, and work closely with Finance for billing
  • Serve as primary client contact and lead daily communications and meetings
  • Perform CQC Manager duties on USACE projects as needed
  • Oversee procurement, mobilization, subcontractors, rentals, and project logistics
  • Oversee daily reporting, QC of survey, dredge plan and productions
  • Monitor field engineer/surveyor for timely deliverables and review materials for client meetings
  • Monitor site conditions for change orders or modifications and identify potential conflicts or delays
  • Develop project plans to meet client requirements and timelines and assist post-award submittals
  • Manage resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement system and safety improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any discipline) or Construction Management preferred
  • Preferred 3+ years’ experience in hydrographic survey and/or dredging management
  • USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) Certification
  • RMS competency and ability to update daily reports for clients
  • OSHA 30
  • 40-Hour EM 385-1-1
  • Primavera P6 Certification
  • Develop SOPs for dredge operations and project management
  • Create cost and production estimates for bids
  • Experience identifying and leading change orders, differing site conditions, REAs
  • Ability to mobilize, execute, and demobilize a dredge project from contractual and operational standpoint
  • Experience driving cost control and managing project estimates
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Responsible for contract negotiations with clients and vendors
  • Acts as a leader and mentor; provides training and coaching
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Hypack and/or other Survey software
  • Ability to operate small marine vessels preferred
  • Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings, ABS, USCG rules
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record required
  • Valid TWIC
  • Experience in identifying and anticipating design/production work sequence conflicts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and ability to monitor progress to schedule
  • Willingness and ability to spend time onboard the vessel, including staircases and vertical ladders
  • Self-motivated team player with strong work ethic
  • Strong negotiation skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers
  • Confidence to initiate correspondence with crewmembers and staff
  • Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
  • Physical requirements: walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Rotational – 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off
  • Willingness to travel to project sites or Long Beach yard as needed
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines, including outside normal business hours
