About the role

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of strategic insurance Projects, spanning payment system modernization, updates to customer/agent portals, regulatory change, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into project scope, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy.
  • Manage inter-dependencies across multiple projects and workstreams, ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise goals.
  • Partner with business leaders, product owners, technology teams, and external vendors to ensure initiatives meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Facilitate steering committees, executive updates, and working group sessions, ensuring decisions are well-informed, and risks are visible.
  • Manage resistance, balance competing priorities, and create strong partnerships throughout the organization.
  • Manage Project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking.
  • Align resourcing across internal teams, contractors, and vendor partners, ensuring optimal allocation.
  • Drive change management activities to ensure smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and tools across finance, claims, operations, and distribution.
  • Support communication, training, and readiness activities to prepare business users and external partners.
  • Capture lessons learned and implement improvements in Project governance and delivery practices.
  • Leverage data and metrics to measure value realization and enhance future delivery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in Project or portfolio management, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of insurance business processes (policy administration, claims, billing, underwriting, distribution).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in insurance (e.g., NAIC, state regulations, GDPR/CCPA for data).
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and managing large, complex Projects with budgets >$5M.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with Project governance frameworks, agile delivery models, and change management practices.
  • PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent certifications preferred.
