About the role

  • Team Lead and specialists creating and maintaining specifications for Cummins products. Ensuring quality through standards while mentoring other design technicians in Columbus, IN.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a Team Lead and/or has specialized knowledge to create and maintain specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards.
  • Ensures model and drawing quality.
  • Creates and maintains product specifications utilizing Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing.
  • Utilizes Computer Aided Design (CAD) data management tools for configuration control and to maintain security.
  • Ensures application of company, industry, national, and international standards.
  • Processes internal engineering work requests.
  • Engages with required functional areas as needed.
  • Participates in the maintenance of standards and practices which ensure quality.
  • Mentor and train less experienced Product Designers.
  • Checks models and drawings prior to release.
  • Create assemblies to ensure fit to mating parts.
  • Works with engineering to generate concept models.
  • Participates in and/or leads Drawing Quality Reviews.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.
  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
