About the role
- Principal Integrated Operations Modeller leading simulation modelling for Queensland Rail. Planning capacity initiatives and mentoring team members while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement operational capacity planning initiatives to support corporate and inter-agency objectives.
- Design, develop, test, and execute simulation models to evaluate the impact of operational changes on service delivery.
- Analyse complex data sets and effectively present insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
- Engage with key stakeholders to leverage modelling outcomes, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Establish and execute project management frameworks, including scheduling, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor and oversee project activities involving internal teams, contractors, and consultants, ensuring compliance with budget and performance standards.
- Represent Queensland Rail at industry and government forums, advocating for operational excellence and innovation.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, supporting their professional development and capability growth.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency with AnyLogic (or other simulation tools and modelling software, i.e., Simio, ARENA, SimPy)
- A minimum of five years of experience in a modelling environment with exposure to operations and logistics, preferably within industries such as rail, mining, ports, or supply chain
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop forecasting models and strategic insights
- Expertise in strategic, tactical, and deployment planning across various rail operations
- Experience working in an operating business, supporting operations and planning functions
- A demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
