Senior Platform Engineer at Plenti responsible for enhancing internal development platform and driving engineering velocity.
About the role
- Design, build, and maintain Civica's cloud-based platforms.
- Own the cloud hosting platform used by Engineering teams to deliver services to customers.
- Create solutions to enhance development speed and improve the overall developer experience.
- Ensure internal and external systems are performant, reliable, secure, and scalable.
- Build solutions that enable developers to rapidly design, develop, and iterate on software and services.
- Tackle complex technical challenges with innovative approaches.
- Modernise and improve legacy platforms using best-in-class methods.
- Act as a subject matter expert to support and guide colleagues.
- Drive best practices across the platform engineering community.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services, managing cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker for deploying and managing containerised applications.
- Strong Linux administration skills and understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Ability to build reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools to maintain system health.
- Knowledge of on-call processes and implementing secure, resilient platforms.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
- Implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices to improve team productivity.
- Scripting and automation to streamline processes and reduce manual work.
- Programming experience in Python, Go, or another DevOps-friendly language.
- Experience migrating VM-based systems to cloud-native architectures
- Familiarity with technologies used: AWS & Azure platforms, Terraform, Datadog, Github, Github Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps
