About the role
- News Anchor/Reporter tasked with covering local, regional, and national newscasts at iHeartMedia. Role involves anchoring, writing, and producing news content across various platforms.
Responsibilities
- Anchor newscasts for multiple markets
- Write clear, concise news copy
- Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire
- Post news and video content to newsroom social media platforms
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations
- Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift
- May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed
- General newsroom responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in on-air journalism in smaller market or college station
- 4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications
- Ability and willingness to work both weekend days, possibly nights/overnights as well
- Strong social media skills including email, writing/posting for Facebook, X, and Instagram
- Strong on-air presence and ability to present newscasts with authority
- Excellent writing and editing ability; excellent grammar
- Strong time management skills; adept at setting priorities and managing deadlines
- Knowledgeable and up to date with local, regional, and national trends
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in media production (primarily audio) and broadcast systems.
