About the role

  • Mineral Economics Consultant providing financial expertise and support on mining projects. Engaging in evaluations, market assessments, and conducting economic analyses in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment where creativity is valued and encouraged
  • Provide economic and financial expertise to mining, energy and infrastructure projects
  • Evaluate mining projects using DCF analysis
  • Develop financial models for mining projects that can be understood and manipulated by technically focused clients
  • Value mineral properties following industry guidelines and best practices
  • Conduct market studies for various minerals
  • Analyze multi-disciplinary data and stakeholder input and communicate findings
  • Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner
  • Additional tasks assigned by supervisor to support clients in mining, energy and infrastructure projects

Requirements

  • Diverse background in industrial, energy and mining projects
  • Experience designing and analyzing projects using discounted cash flow, monte carlo, and decision tree analysis
  • Strong technical and business writing skills, particularly for decision makers
  • Organizational skills
  • Oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated successful experience to initiate and maintain relationships with local and key staff within Stantec
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering and/or mineral economics, or a related field
  • Strong technical skills in conducting mineral market studies, economic and financial evaluation of mining projects, mineral valuations, mining development strategies, risk analysis, and mining advisory
  • Experience doing DCF analysis in Excel and other software tools
  • Experience developing, drafting, and delivering written products
