About the role

  • Lead data engineering teams building Snowflake ingestion pipelines for operational observability at Cox Automotive. Drive resiliency, data modeling, and stakeholder alignment across IT and security.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and empower data engineering teams; foster servant leadership, collaboration, and continuous improvement\n• Set technical direction and represent the team’s capabilities to stakeholders across the organization\n• Guide the design and implementation of scalable data ingestion pipelines and data modeling solutions (ingesting operational, infrastructure, and security data into Snowflake)\n• Ensure alignment with business goals and architectural standards and provide technical insight and leadership during off-hours when engineering teams are active\n• Partner with stakeholders across IT, Security, Infrastructure, and Operations to understand data needs and deliver impactful solutions during US working hours\n• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences to advocate for the team’s work and value\n• Drive improvements in observability and resiliency across Cox Automotive’s platforms and enable data-driven decision-making by delivering high-quality, reliable data solutions\n• Help the organization better understand its strengths and weaknesses through intelligent data modeling

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field (or master’s +4 years; Ph.D. +1 year; or 18 years’ experience)\n• 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams\n• Experience with Snowflake and AWS in a data engineering context\n• Strong understanding of IT operational data systems and data modeling practices\n• Excellent planning, prioritization, and decision-making skills\n• Knowledge of AI implementation for support of engineering practices and product road mapping\n• Familiarity with MS 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code\n• Experience managing distributed or offshore teams and working across time zones (preferred)\n• Demonstrated success in leading strategic data initiatives (preferred)\n• Will need to clear a pre-employment drug test; travel ~5% and ability to work US working hours
