About the role

  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary to management
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
  • Manage fixed assets register and depreciation
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with year-end preparations
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll for all employees/contractors accurately and on time
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industrial awards, agreements, and legislation
  • Administer superannuation contributions and ensure compliance with Superannuation Guarantee (SG) obligations
  • Prepare and lodge PAYG withholding tax
  • Issue payslips and annual Payment Summaries (now Income Statements via STP)
  • Resolve payroll-related queries from employees and maintain accurate, confidential payroll records
  • Prepare and lodge monthly/quarterly BAS and reconcile GST accounts
  • Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of GST, PAYG Withholding, FBT instalments, and other relevant taxes
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Australian tax legislation and liaise with the Australian Taxation Office as required
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial projects, identify and implement process improvements, and maintain strong internal controls and financial integrity
  • Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate with the Finance team

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA/CA qualification (or working towards)
  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant with significant payroll and BAS responsibilities
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero)
  • Advanced Excel skills
