About the role

  • Support the ITC team with administration of compliance requirements related to sanctions/embargoes, export/import controls, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption regulations
  • Draft and prepare export licenses and related filings for government agencies (e.g., DDTC and BIS), including license applications, registrations, regulatory notifications, and reporting
  • Support the lifecycle of export authorization management
  • Prepare export classification and licensing determinations
  • Vet Planet and its non-US subsidiary employees for access to export-controlled information
  • Review office and manufacturing lab visit requests to ensure compliance with Planet policy
  • Coordinate with engineering, launch and manufacturing teams to manage compliance requirements associated with international shipments requests
  • Review, clear, and escalate automated flags for restricted party compliance screening
  • Complete compliance due diligence reviews of Planet vendors and/or other third parties
  • Ensure compliance with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and similar global anti-bribery requirements, including conducting enhanced due diligence reviews, as needed
  • Review gifts, travel, and entertainment requests to ensure alignment with Planet policy
  • Coordinate with hiring managers and HR teams to implement compliance controls related to employee onboarding and terminations
  • Research and stay abreast of international trade compliance topics for implications to Planet’s global business
  • Assist with the drafting and review of internal processes and procedures
  • Assist with preparing and conducting compliance trainings for employees
  • Support best practices in record retention and organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, International Policy, Business Administration, International Business, or related field
  • 2+ years of paralegal or regulatory/government compliance experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving skills and the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and knows when to ask questions
  • Ability to take initiative with a methodical approach, handle repetitive tasks and display a continuous improvement mindset
  • Technical proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to access export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by BIS and/or DDTC (EAR/ITAR requirements)
  • Preferred: Experience implementing sanctions, anti-bribery, and/or export control compliance programs
  • Preferred: Knowledge of HR legal requirements and immigration filings/processes as they overlap with international trade compliance
  • Preferred: Experience as a paralegal or in a legal environment
  • Preferred: Experience working with engineers or in a technical/aerospace environment
  • Preferred: Experience of working in a dynamic environment
