About the role

  • Design and deliver teaching content across modules at Levels 4 to 6 in Psychology programmes
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and development and help design new courses
  • Engage in relevant research and scholarly activity to inform curriculum design and enhance student experience
  • Supervise or mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development
  • Work with industry and educational partners and bring practice experience into the classroom
  • Teach professional and therapeutic skills in counselling and wellbeing
  • Participate in open days, public events, moderation and quality assurance processes

Requirements

  • BPS-accredited degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching or researching applied Psychology at undergraduate levels
  • Established practice-based experience in counselling, counselling psychology, and/or wellbeing practice
  • Ability to teach professional and therapeutic skills
  • Experience working with industry and educational partners
  • Involvement with open days, public events, and building links with business and the community
  • Experience with moderation and other quality assurance processes
  • Aptitude for developing educational partnerships
  • Excellent networking and communication skills; flexible, adaptable and a committed team player
  • Applicants with fewer than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE who do not hold an HEA-accredited Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education during the first two years of employment
  • Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE who do not hold an HEA-accredited Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period
