About the role

  • Junior Customer Operations Engineer at Open Systems supporting secure and scalable network infrastructures. Assisting in deploying, operating, and maintaining networking and security solutions in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in deploying, operating and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing network infrastructures.
  • Contribute to the management and monitoring of network security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, proxies, and email security gateways.
  • Participate in troubleshooting network performance issues and security incidents under senior engineers’ guidance.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of SD-WAN solutions and cloud network integrations (preferably Azure).
  • Monitor network traffic, logs, and alerts to identify and mitigate potential threats.
  • Continuously learn and contribute to improving network performance, automation, and security posture.
  • Support the deployment, operations, and maintenance of network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

Requirements

  • Approximately 0-2 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking and security operations.
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and VPNs.
  • Basic experience with firewalls, VPNs, and security gateways.
  • Exposure to network automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and Azure Virtual Networks (AWS/GCP a plus).
  • Basic understanding of security frameworks such as Zero Trust, SASE, and SD-WAN (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset with attention to detail.
  • A proactive learner with a continuous improvement mindset focused on efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
