About the role

  • Support key administrative processes across human resources and finance departments, including onboarding/offboarding, recruitment coordination, labor relations, employee recordkeeping, and financial data entry
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including background checks, offer letters, new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment, and exit procedures
  • Liaise with hiring managers and IT to ensure new hires are properly set up and maintain onboarding/offboarding checklists and documentation
  • Post job openings, schedule interviews and reference checks, and coordinate logistics with candidates and hiring managers
  • Maintain accurate employee records in BambooHR and other systems, file and organize personnel documentation, and manage HR inbox and calendar
  • Schedule internal trainings and maintain organizational training calendar; compile and distribute HR communications
  • Support HR Director and COO in responding to union data requests, take notes during grievance and other meetings, and ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Assist with special projects across HR and Finance including process improvements, system updates, calendar planning, and policy implementation
  • Prepare in-house deposit details, process check deposits, conduct bank branch deposits as necessary, and record bounced check and chargeback details
  • Verify invoices for accuracy and enter into accounting software, work with cardholders to record charges and documentation, and record journal entries on standard monthly processes

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in HR, operations, finance support, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable tone
  • Familiarity with HR systems (e.g., BambooHR or similar)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across teams
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Experience coordinating meetings, trainings, or events
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to live in or relocate to the Washington, DC metro area
