Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations to review and answer questions regarding financial policies and requirements related to insurance benefits.

- Serve as a Patient Advocate for patients when patients have difficulty navigating with their insurance company.
- Review medical records and initiate authorizations using online resources, insurance specific forms, and making outgoing calls to insurance companies.
- Communicate with internal patient financial services department, clinical staff and external practice managers when inaccurate demographic information is supplied.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years’ work experience in a healthcare environment required
- Knowledge of CPT Codes and ICD-9/10 Codes
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of third-party and insurance company operating procedures, regulations and billing requirements.
- Must have working knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance policy (i.e., HIPAA).
