About the role
- Financial Clearance Specialist working remotely, verifying patient information for service delivery. Requires 5 years experience in financial clearance or patient access in the healthcare system.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and/or verify demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information for pre-registering patients.
- Responsible for insurance eligibility / benefit verification, pre-certification / authorization, referral clearance and financial education.
- Ensure patient safety by authenticating patient identity throughout all essential functions.
- Meet/exceed established customer service, productivity and quality standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform activities related to pre-registration and financial clearance for multiple patient types.
- Validate and enter demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information into the system.
- Informs patient/guarantor of their liabilities and collects appropriate patient liabilities.
- Validates medical necessity of Medicare and Non-Medicare cases.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience working in financial clearance or patient access.
- Epic experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minute).
