About the role

  • Oversee finance operations for two legal entities in Malaysia and lead the local finance team (currently 2 accountants).
  • Report to the Regional Director of Finance (Bangkok) with a dotted line to the Managing Director Singapore & Malaysia.
  • Implement and enforce processes around purchase orders, contracts, sales reporting, invoice approval, and payment cycles.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budget, reforecasts) for regional and group HQ.
  • Provide variance analysis versus budget/forecast and actionable financial insights to support management decisions.
  • Partner with sales, events, editorial, and operations teams to ensure efficient financial processes and accurate revenue forecasting.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and company secretary to ensure statutory reporting, audits, and compliance.
  • Oversee all tax matters and liaise with tax authorities.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, monitoring, invoicing, receivables follow-up, and banking relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial workflows and support finance-related projects (CRM, ERP enhancements).
  • Support ad-hoc regional initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Regional Director of Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Finance Manager, Controller, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading small to mid-sized teams (currently 2 accountants locally).
  • Experience working in multinational or regional organisations is a plus.
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems and ability to drive ERP/CRM process improvements.
  • Strong grasp of local tax and statutory reporting requirements (corporate, GST/SST, withholding).
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to improve processes and resolve issues proactively.
  • Ethical, responsible, compliance-oriented, self-driven, flexible, resilient, and collaborative leadership style.
  • Ability to work independently, escalate appropriately, and demonstrate full accountability for outcomes.
