About the role

  • Remote Sales Specialist focused on animal nutrition/feed sales with an emphasis on Equine
  • Work in partnership with member cooperatives, independent dealers, and end user customers to increase feed sales
  • Conduct targeted prospect calls to develop new and existing business growth
  • Actively call on Horse, Cattle, Sheep, Goat and Show animal owners to evaluate and recommend feeding programs
  • Analyze sales data of each assigned dealer/coop to determine and track growth and identify underperforming areas
  • Develop and implement action plans to grow Purina feed business at dealer/co-op level
  • Support selling events, customer meetings, and execution of promotions partnering with dealer staff
  • Develop Joint Business Plans annually with assigned cooperatives and dealers to execute sales growth strategies
  • Develop training programs as needed to meet individual and group needs
  • Provide tracking reports (CRM) on marketing and service activities and maintain accurate client history records
  • Position Purina programs, tools, technologies, and services to meet coop, dealer, and customer needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related agricultural or business-related field (candidates without a bachelor’s degree with proven sales and industry experience may be considered)
  • 5+ years proven field sales experience with an animal science/nutrition emphasis
  • Proven track record of growing and maintaining a customer base
  • Must be able to travel in the assigned territory, including overnights when necessary
  • Good understanding of animal husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines
  • Competent to have basic command of animal nutrition and management recommendations
  • Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Salesforce)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Cold calling experience and high internal drive
  • Natural ability for relationship building and public speaking aptitude
  • Leadership in a team environment
  • Must be located within the territory described (Southern NJ, Northeast Maryland, and Delmarva area)
