About the role

  • Turn big ideas into site-specific concepts that balance resource protection, visitor experience, and thoughtful design
  • Produce technical design deliverables: CAD plans, GIS-integrated bases, renderings, and presentation materials
  • Perform fieldwork in Tennessee's forests, rivers, and open spaces
  • Develop concept alternatives, preferred concepts with phasing, site analyses, and phasing plans
  • Support public workshops and design charrettes and collaborate with State Parks, Natural Areas, Archaeology, and Outdoor Recreation
  • Align projects with accessibility standards and TSP brand/design guidelines
  • Work on projects ranging from trailheads and campgrounds to day-use areas, cabins, and landscape restoration

Requirements

  • 5+ years in landscape architecture/design (parks, trails, civic, or campus)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp (or similar)
  • Familiar with GIS workflows (shapefiles, georeferencing, exports)
  • Ability to develop concept and schematic designs (plans, renderings, 3D sketches)
  • Ability to create concepts, schematic, and phasing plans
  • Knowledge of ADA/ABA universal design standards
  • Support public workshops and design charrettes
  • Willing and able to travel statewide and work outdoors
  • Portfolio required with conceptual and CAD work (including at least one nature-based project)
