About the role

  • Report directly to the CEO and lead global accounting operations.
  • Oversee and optimize general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Own and optimize month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate internal/external reporting.
  • Build and grow disciplines including Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, International Accounting, Corporate Accounting and Consolidations, Tax, Treasury, and Risk.
  • Research, interpret, and implement complex accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842) and develop/maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting and independently manage external audits as primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Ensure appropriate tech stack and drive continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes and systems (ERP/NetSuite, expense management, billing systems).
  • Partner closely with FP&A, Sales, Legal, and other business owners to provide insight into financial results, forecasting, and proper accounting treatment for new products and transactions.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team and prepare the function for M&A activities and public company readiness (e.g., SOX readiness).
  • Design and execute a roadmap to scale the accounting function from rapid growth through maturity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience across Big 4 and industry.
  • At least 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role, preferably at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, with specific experience in ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Deep experience shaping accounting policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and use information technology applications and resources, with strong understanding of ERP solutions (NetSuite preferred) and financial systems.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; detail-oriented and hands-on.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Experience with public company accounting and reporting requirements (e.g., SOX compliance) is highly desirable.
