About the role
- Consultant delivering timely VAT advice and supervising junior team members for Ryan’s VAT Consulting team in Portugal. Involves client interactions, research, and compliance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of Ryan’s VAT Consulting team to deliver timely, accurate and practical international VAT advice.
- Prepare advice to clients and supervise work delegated to junior colleagues.
- Client billing and drafting technical articles for the company’s monthly newsletter.
- Research and draft technical advice, delegating simpler issues to junior colleagues in the team.
- Review junior colleagues’ work to ensure correctness and adherence to standards.
- Organise workloads and prioritise issues for timely advice delivery.
- Provide regular feedback to junior colleagues for their development.
- Participate in meetings with clients and maintain client relationships.
- Liaise with third parties, including tax authorities and suppliers.
- Write articles for the company’s website or external journals.
- Research changes to legislation and procedures.
- Prepare client fee quotes and invoices for review.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree in Law, Management or Economics.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Other languages will also be valued in the recruitment process.
- Professional experience of at least 3 years in a VAT advisory role, preferably with an international/cross-border focus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
