About the role
- Asbestos Field Sampling Technician for environmental construction projects at ERM, responsible for safety and compliance in asbestos site investigations and remediation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Asbestos Field Sampling Technician on assigned site investigation, remediation, and decommissioning/decontamination/demolition environmental construction projects and to implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans
- Ensure appropriate level of PPE is available and being used as required, as well as proper maintenance and sanitation of PPE
- Collect asbestos samples in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines and industry best practices to ensure accurate analysis and compliance
- Verify communication systems are in place
- Monitor conformance with safety and emergency procedures
- Conduct daily safety briefings with the project field team
- Oversee that safety equipment is maintained; establish and execute decontamination procedures
- Monitor site conditions for asbestos clearance sampling
- Conduct behavior-based safety observations and coordinate internal Event Communication System activity
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, biology, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline; Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education (2 years for each 1 year of education)
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- California Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) - Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance (CSST) Certification, current
- California Department of Public Health – Certified Lead Sampling Technician or Certified Lead Inspector / Assessor
- Good with computers including but not limited Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, etc.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to travel within the state of California to client sites.
