Asbestos Field Sampling Technician for environmental construction projects at ERM, responsible for safety and compliance in asbestos site investigations and remediation.
Responsibilities
Serve as Asbestos Field Sampling Technician on assigned site investigation, remediation, and decommissioning/decontamination/demolition environmental construction projects and to implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans
Ensure appropriate level of PPE is available and being used as required, as well as proper maintenance and sanitation of PPE
Collect asbestos samples in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines and industry best practices to ensure accurate analysis and compliance
Verify communication systems are in place
Monitor conformance with safety and emergency procedures
Conduct daily safety briefings with the project field team
Oversee that safety equipment is maintained; establish and execute decontamination procedures
Monitor site conditions for asbestos clearance sampling
Conduct behavior-based safety observations and coordinate internal Event Communication System activity
Requirements
Bachelors degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, biology, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline; Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education (2 years for each 1 year of education)
2+ years of relevant experience
California Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) - Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) or Certified Site Surveillance (CSST) Certification, current
California Department of Public Health – Certified Lead Sampling Technician or Certified Lead Inspector / Assessor
Good with computers including but not limited Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, etc.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to travel within the state of California to client sites.
