About the role

  • Intern assisting in communication and outreach projects at Handicap International. Supporting content creation, project management, and media relations for humanitarian initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist communications officers with various projects within the External Communications department of Handicap International
  • Gather information on HI's humanitarian activities and advocacy work, and write content adapted for the general public and social media formats: articles, profiles, posts, etc.
  • Support the production of video content and static social media assets
  • Make content available to national associations (publication in our Ephoto database, on the back office of our websites, and sharing with internal stakeholders)
  • Support the updating of presentation sheets for HI activities across its 60 countries of operation
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders (field teams, communications officers, graphic designer, national associations, etc.)
  • Publish content in the back office of national association websites (HI Belgium, France, Switzerland, etc.) and in the Ephoto archive database
  • Handle press enquiries
  • Produce a quarterly report on press enquiries
  • Manage the sharing stream of media coverage with the relevant audiences

Requirements

  • Master’s student (first or second year) in one of the following fields: Communications / Marketing – Media / Public Relations / Political Science / International Relations
  • Excellent writing skills and a very strong command of French (grammar and spelling) are required for this role
  • Rigorous and responsive profile, team-oriented, attentive, and able to synthesize information
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) desired
  • Previous experience in a communications department and/or in the non-profit sector is a plus
