About the role

  • Represent secured creditors in mortgage default legal services involving Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy matters across multiple jurisdictions
  • Handle contested and uncontested bankruptcy matters
  • Manage a high-volume caseload and meet strict deadlines
  • Perform legal research, drafting, and writing; provide oral advocacy in court
  • Use electronic court filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF) and bankruptcy case management systems
  • Attend court hearings throughout the State of Mississippi as needed
  • Collaborate with national bankruptcy team and coverage attorneys
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and promote quality and process improvements

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing in Mississippi (additional admissions are a plus but not required)
  • 2–3 years of experience in consumer bankruptcy law (representing creditors preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy rules
  • Experience with electronic court filing systems (e.g., PACER, CM/ECF)
  • Knowledge of servicing platforms is a plus
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseload
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
  • Motivated self starter with ability to multi-task and manage/prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and comfortable utilizing technology
  • Must be able to attend hearings throughout the State of Mississippi as needed
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Preferred: Multi-jurisdictional bar admission(s)
  • Preferred: Experience working with mortgage servicers or financial institutions
  • Preferred: Familiarity with BK case management systems such as BKFS, Tempo, or LPS Desktop
