About the role
- Senior Civil Engineer managing municipal infrastructure projects and leading a design engineering group in Waterloo. Focusing on business development and client relations while delivering impactful projects.
Responsibilities
- function as a Group Manager for a small but growing municipal design engineering group
- act as Project Manager/ Senior Project Manager on civil infrastructure projects focused on municipal infrastructure and transportation facilities
- prepare designs and contract specifications for projects
- manage staff productivity, performance, billability and utilization
- mentor staff and projects budgets and teams
- supervise staff daily activities and participate in project completions
- foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focus
- support design changes during construction and work directly with construction staff
- lead business development activities in the Waterloo Region
- participate in project coordination between design disciplines, management of project schedule and budget
- client liaison and business development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- At least 15+ years of Civil Engineering experience in the consulting services industry including roles with management and business development responsibilities
- P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) is required
- Experience with all aspects of preliminary and detailed design of linear infrastructure and municipal roadways
- Familiarity with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process an asset
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, OpenRoads and Civil3D an asset
- Familiarity with Southern Ontario and Waterloo Region area market conditions
- Ability and desire to work independently as well as in groups with a demonstrated ability to manage projects, project teams, and clients
- Excellent technical understanding and strong verbal and written communication skills
