About the role
- Learn about the financial services industry and clients and leverage understanding to become clients’ trusted advisor
- Interact with client process owners and external stakeholders while executing role
- Gather and process information about a client’s business, strategy, culture, competitive positioning, and operations to assist with risk assessment
- Prepare initial drafts and follow-ups on client request lists
- Draft narratives or flowcharts and perform initial identification of controls
- Conduct tests of the operating effectiveness of clients’ internal controls using test plans or work programs
- Identify issues in testing performed, such as deficiencies, observations, and recommendations
- Provide inputs for internal/external project status updates
- Proactively stay aware of white papers, webinars, and live events available to clients
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related business discipline
- Ability to travel to meet client needs and work collaboratively with others in-person and remotely
- Openness to workday flexibility, agility, remote work environment, leveraging new tools
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Effective time management and prioritization skills
- Must not require sponsorship now or in the future (RSM does not intend to hire candidates who will require sponsorship)
- Recent U.S. college/university graduates with 1-2 years of progressive and relevant work experience may be eligible as experienced associate
- Willingness and ability to learn about the financial services industry and interact with client process owners
- Ability to conduct tests of operating effectiveness of internal controls and identify issues, deficiencies, observations, and recommendations
