About the role
- Participate in IBM-sponsored mainframe training and certification modules, focusing on fundamentals of mainframe operating systems, including z/OS.
- Learn to perform basic operational and support tasks on the mainframe under the supervision of experienced team members.
- Assist in monitoring system performance, processing jobs, and supporting users’ mainframe activities.
- Document issues and resolutions, and escalate problems to senior team members as needed.
- Develop problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to mainframe technology.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to understand the integration between mainframe and distributed systems.
- Adhere to company policies, security standards, and best practices during on-the-job training.
- Demonstrate progress and proficiency through periodic assessments and on-the-job evaluations.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred—but not required.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in IT infrastructure and operations.
- Strong willingness to learn new and complex concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
