Responsibilities
Participate in IBM-sponsored mainframe training and certification modules, focusing on fundamentals of mainframe operating systems, including z/OS.
Learn to perform basic operational and support tasks on the mainframe under the supervision of experienced team members.
Assist in monitoring system performance, processing jobs, and supporting users’ mainframe activities.
Document issues and resolutions, and escalate problems to senior team members as needed.
Develop problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to mainframe technology.
Collaborate with other IT teams to understand the integration between mainframe and distributed systems.
Adhere to company policies, security standards, and best practices during on-the-job training.
Demonstrate progress and proficiency through periodic assessments and on-the-job evaluations.
Requirements
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred—but not required.
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in IT infrastructure and operations.
Strong willingness to learn new and complex concepts.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
