About the role
- Take ownership of a portfolio of 35+ payment methods and work directly with payment providers
- Build highly scalable systems and robust APIs to simplify adoption of new payment products
- Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and integrations across Mollie’s engineering teams
- Help design and develop systems handling high transaction volumes, queuing, caching, concurrency, and fault tolerance
- Collaborate closely with engineers, marketing, partnerships, and product teams to deliver large-scale features
- Work in a cross-functional team with Data, Machine Learning, Platform and Product to accelerate delivery
- Lead technical initiatives from architecture design to implementation ensuring engineering excellence
Requirements
- Experience in Software Engineering, preferably with Java or PHP
- Experience with large-scale applications
- Experience in designing systems and handling queuing, caching, concurrency, fault tolerance and scalability
- Technological flexibility with any object-oriented programming language
- Excellent English communication skills and ability to work with various stakeholders
- Autonomy and ownership of technical initiatives from design to implementation
- Creative problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Willingness to work from the Milan office once per week/every two weeks (asked in application form)
- Candidates must be eligible to work in Italy or within Europe (relocation support not offered for candidates outside Europe)
