Structural Designer supporting aircraft design process, providing technical solutions and mentoring junior engineers. Collaborating with multiple engineering departments and stakeholders in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
Support the design process from initial concept through final production, ensuring the aircraft meets or exceeds all technical requirements.
Provide technical solutions to the production line for all structure- and system-installation-related issues.
Provide technical guidance to junior design engineers to assist them with their daily tasks.
Effectively manage assigned design activities by collaborating closely with other engineering departments, internal and external customers, and Methods, Quality, and Procurement teams.
Work closely with Stress (structural analysis), Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test teams.
Prepare structural and systems layouts, interface, installation, assembly, and detail drawings.
Support design and program reviews with partners/suppliers.
Track project progress and report to functional management.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in designing primary and secondary structures, including system installations.
Strong understanding of airframe configuration, load optimization, stress analysis, materials, manufacturing processes, tooling concepts, and in-service structural requirements.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5), dimensional control, and the ability to perform manufacturing tolerance analyses.
Experience with CATIA V5 and Enovia is required.
Good knowledge of civil aircraft certification rules and certification procedures.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and interact daily with other professionals and technicians.
