About the role

  • Cover a 12-month fixed term contract (maternity leave cover) as Group Accountant for Affinity Water.
  • Prepare and analyse consolidated and entity financial statements in line with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations.
  • Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Partner with the Tax Manager and advisors to ensure tax compliance.
  • Support the implementation of robust controls under the UK Corporate Governance Code.
  • Line manage the Balance Sheet Accountant, reviewing journals, VAT submissions, and reconciliations.
  • Drive process improvements and embed best practice across financial reporting.
  • Project-manage the APR and AR process, keeping the team on track with key milestones.
  • Produce year-end statutory accounts, half-year reporting, and quarterly consolidated dashboards with commentary.

Requirements

  • A qualified finance professional (ACA/ACMA/ACCA/MBA) with strong post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience as a Group Accountant or in a similar financial reporting role.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Skilled communicator who can influence, challenge, and build positive relationships across teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Confident IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle systems.
