About the role
- Cover a 12-month fixed term contract (maternity leave cover) as Group Accountant for Affinity Water.
- Prepare and analyse consolidated and entity financial statements in line with GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process with external auditors.
- Partner with the Tax Manager and advisors to ensure tax compliance.
- Support the implementation of robust controls under the UK Corporate Governance Code.
- Line manage the Balance Sheet Accountant, reviewing journals, VAT submissions, and reconciliations.
- Drive process improvements and embed best practice across financial reporting.
- Project-manage the APR and AR process, keeping the team on track with key milestones.
- Produce year-end statutory accounts, half-year reporting, and quarterly consolidated dashboards with commentary.
Requirements
- A qualified finance professional (ACA/ACMA/ACCA/MBA) with strong post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience as a Group Accountant or in a similar financial reporting role.
- Excellent technical knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Skilled communicator who can influence, challenge, and build positive relationships across teams.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
- Confident IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Oracle systems.
