About the role

  • Build strong internal relationships with a focus on our underwriting, loss control and claims teams
  • Establish exceptional business relationships with the broker network and the broker offices for which you are responsible
  • Drive business opportunities and support specialty product lines (business units) by developing and implementing a plan to achieve growth targets
  • Optimize distribution by deepening existing relationships and expanding the reach of our distribution network
  • Enhance Intact’s brand leadership by raising awareness of the capabilities, products and services of Specialty Solutions; includes working closely with Specialty Solutions Marketing and Communications
  • Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of our market, industry and operating environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues and help foster high engagement across all teams
  • Represent Specialty Solutions and your region on various internal committees and advise other business areas (actuarial, finance, HR and other departments)

Requirements

  • Experience in, or demonstrated skills for, business development
  • Strong knowledge of property and casualty insurance, ideally commercial lines
  • A relationship builder, connector and influencer with the ability to leverage these traits to achieve business development and growth objectives

  • Strong commercial insurance acumen and the ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of our business
  • A strong sense of commitment and autonomy, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy, organization and proactivity
  • Able to negotiate moderate to complex situations
  • Act as an ambassador for engagement and change (lead by example, get involved, mobilize)
  • Mentor less experienced teammates: share knowledge, coach and support colleagues across the organization
  • Proficient with Office 365 applications and an advanced user of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Bilingual (French and English) — regular interaction with colleagues across the country is required
  • Availability to attend various activities (off‑site meetings, events, conferences, etc.) inside and outside normal business hours
  • Frequent travel expected to visit brokers (based on assigned territory). Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record required
