About the role
- Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director overseeing Surety lines of business. Responsible for underwriting new and renewal business and managing a team of production underwriters.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal Surety business
- Build relationships and promote the company
- Manage a team of production underwriters
- Negotiate terms and conditions and close deals
- Provide technical guidance and training to lower level underwriters
- Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support area
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working in a team environment
- Specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry for Executive Underwriter level OR 7+ years of experience for AVP level
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
- Ability to effectively assess risk
- Strong presentation skills
