About the role

  • Senior Manager, Network Engineering at Zayo playing a pivotal role in optical network solutions. Overseeing engineering teams and managing strategic projects for optical network deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision and direct oversight for all optical engineering teams and people managers in the design and deployment of optical network infrastructure as well as automation systems and services.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams, encouraging professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Mentor and develop emerging engineering leaders, promoting leadership skills and effective management practices across teams.
  • Drive deployment of multiple strategic projects including infrastructure build outs, capability enablement, development, user testing, and data integrity.
  • Directly support the cross functional teams by providing leadership and prioritization, removing roadblocks, and implement process and system improvements to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and document program operation for all initiatives.
  • Provide regular reporting on performance.
  • Manage vendors to provide products and development services needed to perform groups’ activities and execute against roadmap.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform strategic decisions and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 4 years in a leadership role focused on optical networks.
  • Proven expertise in the design and deployment of DWDM systems and optical network infrastructure, specifically with platforms such as Infinera, Ciena, and Nokia.
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Financial acumen and experience managing budgets for large-scale network projects.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
