About the role

  • Assistant Controller overseeing accounting and financial operations for YWCA, ensuring compliance and timely reporting. Collaborating with departments to manage budgets and supervise accounting staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization and tax credit entities.
  • Support accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and any specific non-profit regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to support budget management, grant reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Supervise the Accounting Manager and Staff Accountants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent is *preferred*.
  • Minimum of **5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance;** non-profit accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent **organizational skills & attention to detail**.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with **non-profit accounting systems preferred**, e.g., Oracle, Sage Intacct).
  • Strong Excel and analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex spreadsheets.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of **GAAP and FASB **standards specific to non-profits.
