About the role

  • Graduate Consultant assisting clients in achieving climate change ambitions and quantifying carbon emissions in decarbonisation projects. Exposure to various business areas and skill development.

Responsibilities

  • As a Graduate Carbon Advisory Consultant, you will have exposure to different parts of the business gaining vital skills. In addition, your work will be aimed at assisting clients.
  • Achieve their climate change ambitions.
  • Quantify Scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon emissions and advise on supply and demand side reduction and offsetting techniques and technologies.
  • Undertake product lifecycle analysis to determine a verifiable product carbon intensity/ footprint.
  • Support decision-making for CO2 emission reduction from a cost-of-carbon-abated perspective.
  • Use multi-factor sustainable development indices to magnify the benefits of de-carbonisation.
  • Gain understanding of current and future carbon pricing and funding opportunities.
  • Verify, validate, and certify emission inventories and LCAs.
  • Understand synergistic environmental improvement opportunities that decarbonisation brings, aiding ESG credentials and performance enhancement and increasing positive stakeholder perception.
  • Transition to net-zero.
  • Build decarbonization roadmaps with journey times, drivers and identified milestones.
  • Develop climate governance and management frameworks to meet financial institution and investor expectations.
  • Evaluate transition risk and opportunities and guide scenario assessment.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate climate related physical risks by building resilience into plant design.
  • Adapting existing facilities and designing ambitious new projects, to produce the next generation of lower carbon fuels and chemicals.
  • From a Wood perspective we expect you to:
  • Represent the company at external events and conferences.
  • Prepare technical study reports / presentations and associated deliverables.
  • Support the preparation of technical / commercial study proposals.
  • Be fully aware of the business environment, market and on-going innovation in technology and research in climate-related subjects and issues.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Process Engineering, Engineering Science, or a Sustainable Development-related discipline or climate related subject
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel
  • Analytical skills and can systematically break a complex task into more manageable parts and identify the critical components of a problem.
  • A strong communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High-quality report writing and presentation skills.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Keen to learn and keen to share learning with others.
  • Good at working in teams and flexible in thinking and in work methods.
