About the role
- Strategic buyer developing and implementing procurement strategies in mechanical engineering. Collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to enhance efficiency and costs.
Responsibilities
- You develop, implement, and optimize category and procurement strategies in mechanical engineering
- You analyze national and international procurement markets and identify cost, technology, and supply opportunities
- You build a high-performance supplier portfolio and develop it strategically
- You conduct tenders, compare offers, and independently perform detailed cost and value analyses
- You negotiate prices, contracts, and delivery and payment terms
- You make strategic supplier selection decisions, taking into account quality, cost-effectiveness, and delivery performance
- You prepare make-or-buy analyses and business cases
- You drive these to completion
- You manage and track purchasing processes through to series approval
- You maintain and further develop purchasing-related data in the ERP system
- You work closely with design, materials planning, quality, and engineering
Requirements
- You have a degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable qualification
- You bring several years of experience in strategic or technical procurement – ideally in mechanical engineering or serial production
- You are familiar with SAP and ERP systems and work confidently with MS Office
- You have very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken
- You demonstrate strong negotiation skills and a confident demeanor
- You possess technical understanding of drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing processes
- You work in a structured, analytical, and independent manner
- You are willing to travel (primarily domestic, partly international)
