EMEA Tax Manager managing tax compliance and advisory across Europe for WEX. Overseeing indirect and direct tax responsibilities, ensuring compliance while driving tax strategy.
Responsibilities
Setting the tax strategy for WEX in Europe across both indirect and direct taxes.
Advise on the indirect tax implications of new products, operating in new jurisdictions and other business initiatives across Europe. This covers both taxable and exempt businesses.
Responsible for reviewing and approving direct and indirect tax returns and associated analysis and support.
Ownership of parent company Group tax relationship, based in the US.
Responsible for management of tax audits.
Responsible for accounting for income taxes at Group level and for international subsidiaries with support from third party professional advisors.
Responsible for draft transfer pricing agreements and management fee arrangements.
Coach and supervise tax assistant manager.
Responsibility for ensuring payroll tax compliance in all countries in conjunction with HR.
Liaison with operating management on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues.
Ensuring and enhancing (where required) appropriate internal controls to ensure the accurate accounting for taxes.
Departmental liaison with IT staff on all technical matters relating to tax applications.
Ownership of tax risk management.
Requirements
Experience in Indirect Tax in industry and/or consulting (ideally a combination of both)
License/Certification: CTA Qualified or equivalent
Degree level education preferred
Advanced excel and adaptive systems skills
Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
Attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid analytical and organizational skills.
Cooperativeness, flexibility, ability to collaborate and work across functions in a team oriented environment.
Strong ability to use time efficiently to meet multiple deadlines and to take responsibility for completing assignments with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and AdobeSign or similar.
