Nuclear Core Design Engineer performing nuclear core design reload calculations at Westinghouse. Using specialized simulation codes and guiding quality calculations for PWR plants in a hybrid setting.
Responsibilities
Perform nuclear core design reload calculations
Use internal and external nuclear core design simulation codes, following internal methodology and design manuals
Report to the Manager - Advanced Design and Criticality
Lead a plant or multiple plants in core design reload cycles, working with the utilities to meet their safety and operational needs
Interpret results and work with independent engineering verifiers to produce and deliver quality calculations to operating PWR plants
Participate in engineering learning seminars to maintain qualification and learn and apply lessons learned and operational experience in core design
Become a member of a core reload team and work with the nuclear plant customer to provide high quality analyses on a core reload schedule
Work with teams within Core Engineering (Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Rod Design, Project Management) and groups outside CE (Safety Analysis and Licensing)
Requirements
BS Nuclear Engineering
Minimum 3.0 GPA helpful
0+ years previous experience
Interest in Core Neutronics and Nuclear Fuel Design
Computer simulation experience preferred, but not strictly required
