About the role

  • Director handling operations at Mather Community Campus for Volunteers of America. Leading programs, managing staff, and ensuring quality services for individuals in need.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall leadership and management for all programs and operations at the Mather Community Campus
  • Oversees a portfolio that includes the Laverne Adolfo Transitional Housing Program for Youth (THP-Plus), Mather Transitional Housing Program for Families, DHS/OTL Family Program, Mather Emergency Shelter for Single Adults, and the Sacramento County employment program
  • Responsible for ensuring high-quality, contract-compliant, and fiscally sound services that reflect Housing First, low-barrier, trauma-informed, harm-reduction, family-centered, youth-centered, and culturally responsive practices
  • Supervises campus leadership staff, coordinates campus-wide operations and safety, serves as primary liaison with funders and key partners, and drives continuous quality improvement to support positive participant outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, public administration, nonprofit management, human services, or a closely related field is required
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in homeless services, housing, Veteran services, workforce development, or related human services required
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience overseeing staff, budgets, and program operations in a multi-program or multi-site environment required
  • An additional four years of experience in homeless services, behavioral health or related human services may substitute for degree requirement
  • Experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness and complex needs, including behavioral health, substance use, trauma, and system involvement required
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Housing First, low-barrier, trauma-informed, and participant-centered practices
  • Experience with publicly funded contracts and compliance (e.g., county-funded shelter/housing, THP-Plus, workforce programs)
  • Proficiency with program data systems (e.g., HMIS and workforce platforms) and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience overseeing both residential and scattered-site programs serving youth, families, single adults, and Veterans preferred
  • Knowledge of Sacramento County’s homeless response system, Coordinated Access, Veteran service network, and local employment resources preferred
  • Experience managing 24/7 campus or facility-based operations highly preferred
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to meet the organization’s insurance carrier guidelines are required
  • Must pass all required background clearances in accordance with agency, County, State, and federal standards
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required within 90 days of employment
  • Completion and maintenance of all required training and health clearances.
