About the role

  • Personal Injury Protection Attorney at United Automobile Insurance, handling PIP litigation and providing legal guidance for claims. Collaborating with teams for case management in Florida state courts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop case strategies, draft all legal pleadings, motions, discovery, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials.
  • Collaborate with claims adjusters to provide legal guidance and ensure claims are defended efficiently.
  • Collaborate with your legal assistant and paralegal to meet deadlines for discovery, hearings and all other required matters.
  • Handle all facets of discovery, which includes interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production, and conducting witness depositions, including expert testimonies.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and case precedents related to personal injury protection claims.
  • Stay current with changes in insurance and property damage with local and state laws.
  • Analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, concise, and practical advice to the claims team.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and other parties involved in PIP, glass or collision claims.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, attend court hearings, and represent the company's interests in legal proceedings.
  • Address any client inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Attend, conduct and represent the company in all depositions, hearings, and trials as necessary to represent the company's interests and advocate for favorable outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed records of all assigned cases and related legal activities.
  • Utilize case management software to maintain comprehensive and organized records of each matter.
  • Caseload is 95% PIP and 5% glass/collision.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Admission and in good standing with the Florida bar
  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law with a focus on PIP litigation.
  • Experience in glass and collision
  • Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and laws.
  • Excellent research, writing, negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and software; Time Matters preferred.
