About the role

  • Database Administrator performing critical database administration tasks for the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois. Supporting application teams with database management on various platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database administration assignments essential to the implementation and operation of database systems and applications running on Linux and Windows server platforms
  • Supporting the complete software development life cycle from conception to deployment in an Agile environment
  • Review and ensure database integrity using standardized support tools
  • Ensure tasks are performed in accordance with database administration guidelines, standards and procedures for application development, implementation, testing, and migration
  • Modifying and testing changes to previously developed programs
  • Support both DevOps and New Feature development
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
  • Create and develop well designed and testable code aligning with current Database standards
  • Be available to troubleshoot SQL Server service outages even after-hours and weekends

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3+ years of database administration experience
  • Specific experience in database design and implementation
