Field Service Engineer providing installation, maintenance, and repair services for analytical equipment at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Contributing to scientific research and innovation across various institutions.
Responsibilities
Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of Liquid Chromatography, Charged Aerosol Detectors, Mass Spectrometry, and other instruments
Use customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks
Review reports and documentation from customers, and inspect malfunctioning products to determine nature and scope of problem
Analyze, review, and inspect findings to determine source of problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action
Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
Analyze chemistry and instrument reports in the process of diagnosing technical or application problems
Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees, including both team members and customers
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry or related technical field
5+ years hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments
Demonstrated expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical systems
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issues
Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
Must be available to travel overnight up to 50% within the territory or other areas as required
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. with assistance and work in laboratory environments
