About the role

  • Building Engineering Director overseeing facilities operations and maintenance for a major airport campus. Leading engineering teams and ensuring safety and operational stability in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for engineering operations supporting a 24/7/365 airport campus.
  • Develop and execute operating plans that drive reliability, efficiency, safety, and service excellence.
  • Serve as the primary escalation leader for critical system failures and operational disruptions.
  • Ensure continuous management coverage across all shifts and maintain strong operational discipline.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance programs utilizing CMMS platforms.
  • Drive contract performance where staffing, work completion, and inspection outcomes directly impact revenue.
  • Establish rigorous quality control processes, inspections, and reporting standards.
  • Develop and lead a formal safety program focused on risk reduction and regulatory compliance.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead highly skilled technical and management personnel.
  • Partner with airport leadership in regular operational reviews and performance meetings.
  • Support capital projects, warranty programs, and critical infrastructure upgrades.
  • Oversee planning and execution of utility shutdowns and other high-risk activities.
  • Protect sensitive airport operational systems including communications, navigation, and security infrastructure.
  • Own operational budgets, cost controls, and financial performance while identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost avoidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering or facilities leadership experience.
  • Airport or similarly complex transportation hub experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a mission-critical, 24/7, high-public-facing environment (aviation, healthcare, data centers, transportation hubs, large campuses, etc.) highly desired.
  • Proven leadership within performance-based service environments preferred.
  • Able to complete and pass all TSA and CBP screening and badging requirements for airport security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline required.
